Land Rover Defender is considered one of the icons of British automobiles. But times are changing and the next generation of hitter may have more Indian blood than would not like the subjects of Her Majesty. Land Rover plans to assemble a new generation of the legendary SUV in the city of Pune, Maharashtra state. The aim is to reduce production costs, production is exported closer to markets where the model enjoys the greatest popularity. The English, however, make the proviso that selected series of new Defender will be sent to Europe for finishing. Apparently it comes to SUVs to be sold in countries more sensitive to product quality buyers.
Meanwhile, the British magazine Autocar reported that the next generation Defender will use a modified version of the platform T5, which are built Land Rover Discovery 4 and Range Rover Sport.
The design of the new SUV did not differ significantly from prototype Land Rover DC100, showed last year in Frankfurt. Serial version will be equipped with other lights, grille and more practical interior. The new Defender will be available in 2015.
